Have you got a favourite spot you like to go for a walk? Ours is Stourhead Gardens. Especially if we have our grandchildren staying with us, as it is only 6 miles from our home. We are very lucky to live in the countryside surrounded by lots of beautiful places to visit.
Stourhead is 2,650 acres of countryside. You can walk through farmland, woodland, and past ancient monuments and historic sites. We take different routes for our walks depending on the season and what the children would like to see and do. Luckily all of them enjoy being outdoors, running around, observing the wildlife and fauna we come across. We have even renamed our Harriet Dr Doolittle as she talks to creatures great and small, from ants to cows and everything in between.
Today we observed the arrival of the autumn, the changing colours of the leaves, collected conkers and played hide and seek in the trees. We had great fun playing Pooh sticks on the river, even made little boats from the fallen leaves. To great amusement of the children we watched a duck in the front of us preening and cleaning himself. They were squealing with laughter as his beak was full of fluffy feathers.
I expect we will back soon having some more fun and adventures. Cannot wait.
