Are you a creative who has a passion for their craft? If so, it doesn’t have to just be a hobby. There are lots of ways you can make money with your talent, turning it into a side income or even a full time job. Here are a few ideas.
Perhaps you’ve already had some training in photography, or maybe you’ve just been practicing for years because it’s something you love to do. Either way, you don’t have to just take pictures for your own personal collection. Decide what kind of photography interests you most- it could be pets, portraits, weddings or something else entirely- and then specialise in this. Starting a photography business can be pricey as you will need to invest in equipment, but if it’s something you love to do you can earn great money and it won’t feel like a day’s work. Set up a website, use a photography logo creator or a graphic designer to put you a professional looking logo. Be sure to link to your online portfolio so people can see examples of your work. Other ways you can earn money with photography would be to upload your photos to sites like Shutterstock. Every time you get a download you earn a bit of money, if your pictures are in high demand it’s an easy way to earn some passive income.
People always need cakes for things like weddings, birthdays, christenings and other special occasions so there’s a good market if you have some fantastic baking skills. You could hire a little kitchen premises or even work from home, just make sure you’re registered with your local council and your kitchen follows health and safety guidelines. You will be subject to random checks just to make sure of this. You could make larger cakes, full tiered wedding cakes, cupcakes, cake jars, brownies, vegan cakes and so much more. There are cake decorating workshops you can attend which show you how to create perfect decorations so you can make your creations as appealing as possible. From fondant flowers to characters, piping techniques and so much more.
Are you a dab hand with a sewing machine? One area that sells really well is things like party, prom and pageant dresses for children as well as fancy dress. You could also make clothing items for children and adults, and homewares such as cushions and curtains. Spend some time designing your creation and choosing the perfect fabrics, sew them together and then take beautiful pictures. You could create your own website, or sell through an online marketplace like eBay or Etsy.
Photoshop or Illustrator
Photoshop and Illustrator by Adobe are incredible programs. If you know how to use them you could design logos for websites and companies, create your own range of greetings cards, personalised prints, design clip art and so much more. Again you can sell through places like Etsy which are great for creators, another option would be to sign up to a freelancing site and bid on any jobs that come up.
