The understairs cupboard. You’ve got to love it, haven’t you? It’s a genius design. It’s a seamless use of an otherwise wasted space. The only downside is that many of us still waste that space. Rather than putting it to use, we forget it’s there, or lose it to things like heating tank storage.
But, we’re here to tell you that it’s time for a change. There’s no need to waste that under stairs space anymore. In fact, there are some genius uses on offer. All you need to do is switch that in-house heating tank for an outside alternative like these heating oil storage tanks. Or, clear out the rubbish already cluttering your cupboard. Then, consider these more worthwhile uses.
Using your under stairs space for storage may seem obvious. In fact, it’s so obvious, many people already do this. But, many also get it wrong. Too often, understairs cupboards become dumping grounds for junk we forget about. Meanwhile, we suffer for storage solutions for things we do use, like cables, remotes, and the like. So, why not design a storage space which suits this need? You could build shelving and drawer units within your cupboard which keep things neat. Get this right, and you should be able to clear every piece of clutter from elsewhere in your house. Even better, you’ll be able to rest easy it’s all neat and tidy in a space right under your nose. Forget forgotten junk; you’ll be able to use this space with ease on a daily basis.
We know what you’re thinking; surely an understair cupboard is too small for even a tiny study. But, we’re here to tell you that isn’t the case. In truth, there are a few different ways to make this work. If you’re able, you could knock through your cupboard altogether, and slot a desk and computer chair in its place. If you like the clean appearance of a hidden cupboard, you could always set up a desk which still fits when you shut the door. Admittedly, you’d need to remove your chair each time if this were to be an option. But, there are plenty of folding chairs out there which make this more than possible. You wouldn’t have to worry about dedicating a room to the cause. Your study’s already right there waiting for you.
Who doesn’t love the idea of a book nook? This would be the ideal place to come and get stuck into your favourite books without distraction. In fact, it’s an area most of us would love to incorporate if only we had the space. Well, you do, and it’s hiding under your stairs. When you consider it, this is the ideal place for this purpose. By installing a bench seat across the bottom of the space, you can ensure a comfortable hiding place. Then, use the top half of the area for bookshelves. Hey presto; it’s the book nook you always dreamt of.
